Characteristics Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by a chemotaxis bioassay using human CXCR2 transfected mouse BaF3 cells is less than 2 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of ＞ 5.0 x105 IU/mg.

Background Relevance: IL-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus.
