Specificity Formula: Na3VO4
Provided as a pre-activated 200 mM sodium orthovanadate (vanadate) 98% purity solution. Prepared by pH 10 adjustment and boiling cycle until clear at pH 10. This preparation of sodium orthovanadate substantially enhances phosphotyrosyl phosphatase inhibition potency through depolymerization. Sodium orthovanadate is added in-vitro or in-vivo to preserve tyrosyl phosphorylation. Sodium orthovanadate also operates as a potent inhibitor of alkaline phosphatases and ATPases.
Characteristics Sodium Orthovanadate (vanadate) is added to cell lysis buffers to preserve protein phosphorylation. The preservation of protein phosphorylation by sodium orthovanadate (vanadate) can be detected by signal transduction assay, altered mobility in SDS-PAGE gels, and/or by detection with phospho-specific antibodies. Activated sodium orthovanadate (vanadate) has important applicability in kinase assays.

Application Notes Sodium Orthovanadate (Vanadate) Applications:
Maintains tyrosyl phosphorylation in cell lysates.
Preserves tyrosyl phosphorylation after addition to live cell culture (syringe sterilization of solution required).
Inhibits dephosphorylation during in-vitro enzyme assays, including kinase assays.
