Specificity
|
Conantokin G has been isolated from the venom of the cone Conus geographus. This toxin selectively inhibits NR2B subunits of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor-mediated calcium influx in central nervous system neurons. Conantokin G induces sleep-like symptoms in young mice and hyperactivity in older mice (SERT).
