Immunogen

Highly purified normal IgM isolated from pooled human serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Specificity
|
The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to the Fc part of the IgM molecule. In immuno-electrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion, using various antiserum concentrations against normal human serum a single precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with purified IgM. No precipitation reaction is obtained with purified IgG, IgA, and IgG/Fab fragments. Precipitating polyclonal goat antiserum to human IgM, Fc specific

Characteristics
|
Total protein and IgG concentrations in the antiserum are comparable to those of pooled normal goat serum. Antibody titre: Precipitin titre 1:32 when tested against pooled normal human serum in agar-block immunodiffusion titrati

Purification
|
Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable whole antiserum Immunoaffinity adsorbed using insolubilized antigens as required, to eliminate antibodies cross-reacting with other components of the immunoglobulin system or reacting with other serum proteins. The use of insolubilized adsorption antigens prevents the presence of excess adsorbent protein or immune complexes in the antiserum.
